BACKPACK ID

Bridging languages and memories to foster multiple identities: "Never leave your backpack behind!"

About the project

BACKPACK ID is an innovative intervention for promoting the inclusion of refugee children at school in 4 European countries (Greece and Italy, Germany and Sweden), which are met with acute and very diverse challenges by the ongoing refugee crisis. Informed by these differences, the present approach on social inclusion advances a common account of social inclusion challenges; it sees the social inclusion of refugee children as a function of addressing the needs and perspectives of those children and their families, and local communities and stakeholders, while affirming common European values.

Sabrin's personal story

Hello!

My name is Sabrin and I came from Iran. I and my sisters and my mother have lived in Sweden for a month now and we applied for residence in Sweden by UN. We had relatives in Iran but we hadn´t any contact with them so it doesn´t matter where we live. My name means little heaven and even high standing. It´s my parents who had chosen my name and I like it and don´t want to change it. I was studying in Iran and there we wasn´t allowed to choose good school because we were Afghans. In the summers I used to learn how to sew clothes. We immigrants wasn´t allowed to get a driving license in Iran. It seems that you don´t have so good possibilities in Iran. I´m happy for moving to Sweden and I hope for a better life.
