BACKPACK ID

Bridging languages and memories to foster multiple identities: "Never leave your backpack behind!"

About the project

BACKPACK ID is an innovative intervention for promoting the inclusion of refugee children at school in 4 European countries (Greece and Italy, Germany and Sweden), which are met with acute and very diverse challenges by the ongoing refugee crisis. Informed by these differences, the present approach on social inclusion advances a common account of social inclusion challenges; it sees the social inclusion of refugee children as a function of addressing the needs and perspectives of those children and their families, and local communities and stakeholders, while affirming common European values.

My house in Syria. I lived in Syria when I was a little child. I lived with my mother, father, two sisters. We had nice house. We had many toys. We had hens, dogs, rabbits and we had olive trees and we can play and swing so good.

Then the war started in Syria it was dangerous. My mother and father decided that we had to move to Turkey. I become little happy and a little afraid. I become afraid I thought that it was war there as well. It was nice in Germany because we had a lot of friends and we go to school. We got ice-cream in the school afterwards we ate food and banana or apple. At four o´clock we went home and some of the pupils went home at two o´clock. We had a 2 hour break after lunch. It was good in Germany.

Now I live in Sweden in Linköping. I go to school and I have so many friends. My friends are Maryam, Aziza, Nathali. My teachers in prepatory class, Emma and Victoria, are my best. My best subjects in school are PE, math, history, swim and I like to read books.
