BACKPACK ID

Bridging languages and memories to foster multiple identities: "Never leave your backpack behind!"

About the project

BACKPACK ID is an innovative intervention for promoting the inclusion of refugee children at school in 4 European countries (Greece and Italy, Germany and Sweden), which are met with acute and very diverse challenges by the ongoing refugee crisis. Informed by these differences, the present approach on social inclusion advances a common account of social inclusion challenges; it sees the social inclusion of refugee children as a function of addressing the needs and perspectives of those children and their families, and local communities and stakeholders, while affirming common European values.

Music

My grandparents listen to traditional music, one kind in particular. These bands don’t have musical instruments and the musicians make music using their mouths. This music is called "labe". It is popular in southern Albania. Another of their favourite artists is Mariola Kacani. My parents listen to both Albanian and Greek music, traditional, popular and all kinds of Greek music. I like mainly foreign music, but I have no particular preference.

Food

My grandparents prefer Albanian cuisine. My grandfather really likes pork with onions, while my grandmother does not have any specific preference. My parents love mainly Greek cuisine. My father likes grilled meat and my mother likes pasta and legumes. I have no particular preferences. I like spaghetti with minced meat. I don’t know about the Albanian cuisine. I don’t know the difference.
