First partner meeting successfully conducted in Crete!
The first partner meeting of the BACKPACK ID project was held on November 23 & 24, 2017 at the University of Crete in Rethymnon. The project partners met at the Gallos campus of the university, in order to set the groundwork for the project. The partners extensively discussed the rationale behind the BACKPACK ID project and elaborated on the work that needs to be completed in the set timeframe, in order for the project’s objectives to be met. The project aims at promoting the inclusion of refugee children and adolescents (aged 10-15) at school-wide level, while fostering harmonious inter-group relations in local communities. It also aims at empowering all students, both new-comers and majority-group members, and places emphasis on students’ own multiple group memberships and multiple skills and assets. The consortium extensively discussed the first phase of the project, which involves the creation of students’ personal stories through the creation of e-books highlighting their heritage and identities.
