Stories for students

Music...There are many ways to describe it; it can be an escape, an emotion or just a leisure activity. It can be also related to memories, of our childhood, of something pleasant that happened in the past. Because music is not just playing songs on an MP3 player: it is a secret garden where to go alone when nobody understands us. That’s what music is for me. My name’s Eleonora and I’m 12 years old; I’ll try to describe my life through the music I love. Music has always played a huge role in my life, and it accompanies many memories of when I was really young. When I was four years old I was dying to hear the theme of a cartoon I was watching, called ‘Maya the bee’. I remember I’ve watched the same episode for one month every night, and its name was: ‘The windy day’. Every night after dinner I was reaching my place near the TV and starting to watch my favourite cartoon, singing the theme, which I knew by heart! I adored it because I was able to understand the words and they were making me happy. I have another memory related to music: my sister was just born, I was 5 or 6 years old and my mother and me were dancing on the notes of an italian songwriter’s song; she’s called Elisa. I don’t remember exactly which the song was but I remember it was sweet and made me feel safe. I also remember that my sister was throwing her pacifier on the floor and my mother and I were forced to stop dancing. She needed our attention!

My music, my memories

Now I discovered some other authors such as Sfera Ebbasta, Ghali, mostly ‘trap’ authors. There’s a song which I like most and which is different from all the others: “Vivere a colori” (Colourful living) by Alessandra Amoroso. I fell in love with that song from the first time I’ve heard it!

Maybe it is because the words describe me...I don’t know it. I just know that when I listen to it, I feel immensely happy, I feel cheerful, I forget to be where I am and I just think to dance and sing loud! The lyrics I like most of the song, are these: “And I think you are a flower, of a rare colour, who is able to stand still and look elsewhere, and over what you can see, and over what you can hear...”: it’s simply fantastic; it talks about love, but not in a common way, it talks about dreams that become ambitions. It talks about a love which doesn’t fear to be discovered and it’s declared to the world. Music will always be my ‘secret garden’, it will always be there whenever I need it and I know it will always help me, it will always be part of my life. We listen to music to hear the words nobody has never told us.
